OUR  mission:

Project HOPE (hands open to people everywhere) is a local grassroots initiative that fosters sustainable community development through education, cultural exchange, and youth activism. It is an initiative offered through a partnership between MacEwan University and Ceiba Association. We believe in collaboration, solidarity, and utilizing the community model of development.

our   mandate:

At Ceiba, we understand that throughout the world there exists a disparity between people’s economic and social privileges that affect their well-being. This is why Ceiba collaborates with local organizations in Latin America, and will actively expand its connections around the world where marginalized communities exist. Ceiba will work alongside grassroots organizations, embracing and celebrating cultural diversity, in order to achieve common goals. Our initiatives focus upon the creation and facilitation of social infrastructure, which includes (but is not limited to): community and cultural facilities, accessible schooling, and sustainable water and food systems. Throughout the duration of these projects Ceiba will strive for community participation, ensuring local ownership and pride within the initiatives. By facilitating cultural exchange among communities, specifically youth between the ages 15-30, we seek to dissolve the conventional perceptions of development. Communities will have the leading role in designing their own unique path towards development, with Ceiba providing the necessary material resources, experience and cooperation to attain these goals. Youth activism is the core of Ceiba. Therefore, we will provide educational workshops and resources to further the abilities of young people to tackle social justice issues at both a local and international scale. At Ceiba we value Community, Solidarity, Education, Respect and Environmental Sustainability. These principles will guide the organization throughout fundraising initiatives, partnerships, project development, and international youth brigades. The Ceiba Association is dedicated to empowering all those who reach towards a more equitable world with the resources, connections and experiences that will make this vision a reality.

Vision:

Our guiding principle is one of hope: a hope that empowers youth to become stronger global citizens through community exchange and education.
